GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

• An AR graduate shall complete a minimum of 75 clock hours of documented community service in grades 9-12; requirement begins for 2027 graduates. - A.C.A. § 6-16-1901 

• An AR graduate must earn credit in a course that includes Personal and Family Finance Standards in grades 9-12. - A.C.A. § 6-16-135 

• An AR graduate must pass with a 60% the Arkansas Civics Exam. - A.C.A. § 6-16-149 

• An AR graduate must complete CPR training. - A.C.A. § 6-16-143 

• An AR graduate must earn one credit of ADE-Approved Computer Science or computer science-related career and technical education course; requirement begins for 2026 graduates. - A.C.A. § 6-16-152 

• Complete the Smart Core Curriculum

• Complete at least nine (9) honors or AP courses which includes: 

  • • A minimum of two of either Math, Science, or History

(example: AP Biology and AP Chemistry or AP Government and AP US History or AP Calculus and AP Stat cannot include any AP English) OR At least TWO AP classes chosen from Math, Science or History 

(example: AP Biology and AP US History or some other combination that doesn’t include an AP English)

• ONE AP ENGLISH (begins with Class of 2028) 

• A SECOND English class that is either Comp I, Comp II or the other AP English Class of 25 and 26 will be allowed to complete the AP English requirement as follows: A combination of AP English and Concurrent Credit Comp I and II – the difference is that a student may use Comp I and Comp II to satisfy the English requirement 

• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.75 for Class of 2028; Previous Classes will be 3.5 

• The high honor student/s with a GPA of higher than 4.0 shall be valedictorians.

• They must be enrolled in Huntsville High School for his/her entire senior year. 

• The high honor student/s with the highest GPA of 4.0 or under shall be salutatorian.

• They must be enrolled in Huntsville High School for his/her entire senior year. 

If qualifications are not met for valedictorian, the high honor graduate with the highest GPA will become valedictorian and the next highest GPA will be salutatorian. 

• Complete the minimum core of courses. 

• Have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher for Class of 2028; 3.25 for previous classes.

• Complete at least four (4) honors or AP courses with a minimum of one AP course in the areas of either math, science, or social studies. 

  • • • One (1) in the CTE courses can be used as part of the four.

• Must have one (1) AP course or Comp 1 or 2 in the English area.

• Must complete the Smart Core curriculum. 

• Concurrent (college classes through Arkansas Tech University via Arkansas Virtual or North Arkansas College) will count as honors classes to fulfill the honors criteria. Except Student must take at least one AP English. Either Comp I or Comp II can count as their second AP English.

• High Honors, two sets of the following / Honors, one set of the following can replace one AP requirement:

  • • Automotive - Electrical Systems and Engine Performance

    • Agriculture - Poultry Science and Agri Metals

    • EAST - EAST 3 and 4

    • Business - Marketing and Marketing Management

    • EMS - CERT and Fire 2

    • FACS - Orientation to Teaching 1 and 2

    • Computer Science - Robotics 1 and 2. 

    • Two Welding Courses

    • Complete CNA Courses.

    • CTE courses are subject to change due to program variability and considerations will be made in those situations.
