COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
SURVEY OF AGRICULTURE - Grades 9-12
A foundation course for all agricultural programs of study. Topics covered include general agriculture, FFA, leadership, supervised agricultural experiences, animal systems, agribusiness systems, food products and processing systems, biotechnology, natural resource systems, environmental service systems and power, structural and technical systems.

ANIMAL SCIENCE - Grades 10-12
Student experiences will involve the study of animal anatomy, physiology, behavior, nutrition, reproduction, health, selection, and marketing. For example, students will acquire skills in meeting the nutritional needs of animals while developing balanced, economical rations. Throughout the course, students will consider the perceptions and preferences of individuals within local, regional, and world markets. Students will explore hands-on projects and activities to learn the characteristics of animal science and work on major projects and problems similar to those that animal science specialists, such as veterinarians, zoologists, livestock producers, and industry personnel, face in their respective careers. Students will investigate, experiment, and learn about documenting a project, solving problems, and communicating their solutions to their peers and members of the professional community. Teachers are provided detailed professional development facilitate instruction. Every lesson is aligned with national standards for agriculture, science, mathematics, and English language arts.

ADVANCED ANIMAL SCIENCE - Grades 11-12
This course allows for an in-depth look at the Animal Science Industry while providing hands on laboratories and opportunities to participate in FFA and Supervised Agricultural Experiences.

VETERINARY SCIENCE - Grades 11-12
This course will provide the student with a sound platform to master the knowledge and skills necessary to become a veterinary assistant. It will also prepare the student to pursue a rewarding career as part of the professional veterinarian team. It will also equip the next generation of veterinarians and veterinarian assistants with the new technological tools that reinforce our industry's expectations. Finally, it provides academic knowledge, higher order reasoning and problem solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills and occupational skills.

POULTRY SCIENCE - Grades 10-12
