At first, during summer vacation, we began exploring the idea of helping stray dogs. Therefore, we started working on a club we named “The Hidden Dog House.” After we affirmed our decision, we began to select club members and share our ideas with our friends and classmates. Some of them called on their friends who love dogs too. During the process of choosing new members, the main principle that we were concerned about was that the members must have the purest passion for the issue of stray dogs. This is due to the fact that passion is the most important trait that cannot be ignored. Passion generates motivation and empathy.

After confirming all the candidates, we created a group of seven people, and founded “The Hidden Dog House.”

We founded partnerships with many other people and experienced separation and corruption. Till now, we still insist on the same guidelines for choosing new members. After we spread our ideas in different classes, schoolmates willing to help stray dogs followed suit and joined our club. (by Julie)

About Us

YI-TI, CHANG
Yvette

This is YI-TI, CHANG. I'm the founder and the leader of The Hidden Dog House, and I am also the one comes up with the idea of participating in Cyberfair in order to spread the idea of being kind to stray dogs and the environment. In the past, I was afraid of dogs, whenever I counter them, I escape as far as possible. However, when I noticed the situation stray dogs are facing, and furthermore, acknowledge the negative influence stray dogs bring to the environment. With a mind concerning stray dogs and a passion for treating the environment with kindness, therefore, joining Cyberfair is the best proof and the perfect way to appeal to more audience mind. On the order hand, since my dream major is computer science. I worked a lot on coding, including websites and games. Therefore, I'm also the one managing the website for the exhibition of our Cyberfair project and tried to build up our own website for the club, which is still in progress. Through this Cyberfair project, I overcame my fear and become a dog lover. During the whole process, my ability to lead, organize and also planning improved a lot. At the same time, I'm more certain about keeping on my way toward computer science. At last, founding this club and participating in Cyberfair are ways for me to make some contribution to society, which I'm looking forward to having some impact on the society and exploring further methods in this realm.

TZU-NING, HSU
Julie

Hello, I am Julie Hsu. I am the vice president and creative designer at Hidden Dog House. Drawing is one of my favorite things to do, so I am also the artistic designer of the website. Personally, I am a dog lover and that was one of the reasons why I started the club together with my friends. The main reason we started the club was to make our neighborhood better and friendlier for animals and people. I hope that with all our activities we can send a message to society that there are still many problems in our environment that are serious and cannot be ignored. Together we can create a better place where both stray dogs and humans can live. I have learned a lot over the years at The Hidden Dog House. I can't even imagine how badly stray dogs are treated when they are brought to the shelter, how seriously stray dogs affect our environment, and how many processes a shelter has to go through before stray dogs learn to be friendly with people. While there are more and more regulations that protect the rights of these stray dogs, these laws still cannot perfectly protect all dogs. I hope we can at least help to improve the unfavorable conditions for them.

CHING-HAO, KANG
Jim

Hi there, I am Jim Kang, acting as the PR and the marketing manager of The Hidden Dog House. Personally, I believe I am a thoughtful person that is very passionate about my surroundings and this club. I am one of the very first person to join and co-found this club, and this is all due to my passions and symphony towards Taiwan’s stray dogs’ current situation, and as being one of the core members of the club, I believe as being a part of the community, I should help the community by the little power I have. As a result, the organization has held events and cooperated with other organizations in Taiwan for the purpose of helping and enhancing stray dogs' lives. We are currently planning for new events that can make an even bigger impact on the world. And I am looking forward to changing the world with our little power!

MU-YUN, LIN
Trinity

Sup, I'm Trinity Lin. I'm currently in tenth grade. I joined The Hidden Dog House last year mainly because my friend is the founder and that I though it would be interesting to do something I've never done before. I learned a lot during the year in THDH, including some controversial social issues like whether to ban animal testing, sterilize stray dogs, and neuter stray dogs. The are the questions that I've never thought about before, but now that I know more about the issue, I feel like it is our duty to provide a better future for these animals. Stray dogs has been a really big issue in Taiwan. Luckily, more and more people are aware of the treatment of these animals. We can tell that from the abolition of animal euthanasia in Taiwan years ago. More and more laws are enacted to protect animal rights in the following years. It feels really good when knowing that a lot of people are also working to make the world a better place for stray dogs. I hope that with our help, more things could be done for those stray dogs in the future. And that's all, byeeeeeeee.

CAMILLE LEE
Camille

Hi there! I’m Camille. Something about myself first, I love traveling and graphic design. I am in charge of the last part of checking through the final website. I joined The Hidden Dog House just last year, and had already learnt a lot of knowledge through the activities we had in the club. Dogs are one of my favorite animals, and I really do hope to get more people's attention to the issue about stray dogs. While some dogs were enjoying their lives, having adequate food, sleeping in their comfortable beds, and playing around with their owners, many were wandering on the streets, not being able to get enough rest and have to protect themselves and their children from danger in any second. It seems a little unfair, doesn’t it? Even worse, some of them are actually being abandoned by their original owners who don’t take responsibility for taking care of their pets. I am glad to say that quite a few people started paying attention to the issue of stray dogs, and we truly hope to spread our ideas of stray dogs to more people through this Cyberfair project and make an influence. Hope you like our project!

LI-CHEN, LIU
Andy

Hi everyone, my name is Andy and I am the event assistant coordinator of the hidden dog house. I'm passionate about animal welfare and I believe that every dog deserves a loving home. As a member of this club, I've had the opportunity to work with other like-minded individuals who share my passion for rescuing and caring for stray dogs. We've done everything from organizing adoption events to providing medical care and food for dogs in need. Being part of this club has been a truly rewarding experience for me. It's given me the chance to make a positive impact in my community and to help improve the lives of these amazing animals. I'm also grateful for the friendships I've formed with other members of the club, who are just as dedicated and passionate as I am. I'm excited to continue my work with this club and to make an even bigger difference in the lives of stray dogs everywhere.

Hello fellow coders! I am here on a knightly trip to expand my knowledge on website coding and promote and popularize our movement meant to help the stray dog population in Taiwan. But seriously, all jokes aside, I play the role of website coder, website information translator, and overall technical or team support. I first developed interest in joining THDH in October of 2019. At the time, the members of THDH announced that they were hosting a fundraiser event in Taipei and were looking for people to join them in the activity. They were looking for volunteers to help promote the cause of helping stray dogs and also support our club. I contacted the club leader, Yvette, and I turned up to the volunteer fundraising event on a Sunday evening in October of that year. At first, everything seemed to be very hectic and hardly organized. However, we soon found our focus, switched locations to a busier sector, and were able to raise 7000 NTD (equivalent to 250 USD) for our cause. Soon after, I began inquiring about a position in the club, and was admitted in the fall semester of 2019-2020. Initially, I was only responsible for co-designing and building our website with Yvette, but I also slowly grew my capabilities and responsibilities over time. At this point in time, I am already holding multiple roles, including translation work for international and also local support, but also a team coordinator that can find and fix different problems in team cohesion and also technical aspects of our work.
