As Tyler Tysdal had mentioned in previous blogs, sports is an immensely big business. The industry is outrageously lucrative, not just for athletes and sports merchandise business owners, but for people who know what profession to get into.

Here are the top three money-making careers for non-athletes in the sports industry.

Agent

The median salary of $65,000 a year for a sports agent is quite deceiving, Tyler Tysdal explains since the potential payoff of being a sports agent holds can be beyond anyone’s wildest dreams. They negotiate contracts and deals with teams and endorsers for athletes and coaches and take in an average of 6-7% of an athlete’s playing contract and an average of 15% of an athlete’s endorsements. If a sports agent handles just a single star athlete, that median salary shoots way up.

Statistician

Often unsung, the statistician has become quite indispensable in today’s professional sports landscape. With a median salary is $73,000, the statistician provides much-needed analytics for various situations that range from historical data, in-game predictions, draft nights, and overall team strategy. That stats they come up with has a huge impact on the decisions of an organization.

Physical Therapist

Last, but certainly not the least, there’s the physical therapist. Outside of athletes and coaches, they are some of the highest-paid employees of the team, and for incredibly good reason. They make sure athletes are fit and healthy enough to play, and they work closely with the team and coaches, providing vital information about an athlete’s physical status. The median income of physical therapists is around $76,000.

Prior to Platte Management and TitleCard Capital, in 2010, Tyler Tysdal co-founded CCFO, a multi-family office that manages over $700 million in assets. In early 2015, Mr. Tysdal sold his interest in CCFO. From 2007 to 2010, Mr. Tysdal was the Managing Director of a single-family office with over $1 billion under management.
