Meet Our Amazing Student Leaders

Earlier this year, Richland chose its new Student Leaders and Student Representatives for grades 3 - 5. They are an amazing bunch! You can meet your Student Leaders here!

Grecia, President

Grecia is a 5th Grader, who counts patience and independence as her strengths. She had a chance to be elected Class Representative when she was in 3rd grade where she "had a lot of fun helping the school and contributing." Based on that experience she decided to run as a Student Officer. What she loves most about Richland "is the people". She also thinks that, "The students are overall very kind and the teachers are trying their best to make the students have an amazing year even though we are in a pandemic." She loves the outdoors, soccer and also enjoys sketching and reading. She has a younger sibling in the 3rd Grade.

Khloe, Vice President

Khloe is a 4th Grader who is an avid dancer. She also loves soccer and softball. She loves Richland and is amazed by the "nice students and staff." She decided to run for the Student Council because she wanted to "try to make Richland a better place and to help others." She is also an older sister to two siblings, Ellery and Dillon. She loves the colors blue and yellow and her favorite fun activity is jumping on the trampoline!

.

Shaela, Treasurer

Shaela is a compassionate 5th Grader and an athlete, who wanted to be part of the Student Council because she felt that she "wasn't really a big part of Richland" therefore she "wanted to become someone that can help my school." She loves Richland because "everyone is kind "and there are "great staff members at Richland! " Her family has 8 members including her pet dog and a tortoise. Her greatest strength is kindness and she is passionate about soccer!

Sylvia, Historian

Sylvia is a fifth-grader who loves anime and video games. She has been a part of Richland since she was in Pre -K. She was a Student Officer last year as well but unfortunately, she didn’t get a chance to make her mark due to the pandemic. Therefore, she chose to run again, so that she can make a difference this year. She loves Richland and especially helping around the school. Sylvia thinks the Student store is a fun place. She also enjoys spending her time playing with her dog and is fond of reading and mathematics. She considers her ability to “assess situations” as her biggest strength.

Meet Some of Our Other Awesome Mustangs!

We would also like to showcase our Mustangs who have shown compassion, kindness, and generosity.

We would like to give a special mention to Girl Scout Troop 1379 who raised $1500 as a "Give Back" effort from their cookie sales this year. They are donating the amount to Casa de Amparo, a nonprofit based in San Marcos, whose mission is to support those affected by and at risk of child abuse. You can find out more about them here:-Casa de Amparo. Troop 1379 also donated over 211 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to healthcare workers at Palomar Hospital, as a token of appreciation for working tirelessly through the COVID-19 pandemic. Bravo, Troop 1379 members (Aliana, Danielle, Kaylee, Lilian, Madison, Maura, Navya from 3rd Grade; Sophie, Pavlina, Karla from 4th Grade; Maite from 5th Grade, and Troop Leader, Lin Velasco, who works at Richland).

Girl Scout Troop 1379 participated in Earth Day Community Clean-up Event by picking up 2 bucketfuls of trash and recyclables along the Mulberry Park Trail. They would like to tell our readers not to litter the trails and keep our community beautiful. The trash on the trails can harm wildlife and can stay there for decades if not picked up.

Way to go Troop 1379! You are an inspiration!

We would like to give a big shout-out to a Brownie Girl Scout, Athena from Troop 650. She is a second-grader at Richland. Athena participated in trash pick up from our local community for her Eco Friend Badge. She also celebrated the Girl Scout Birthday on March 12th by sharing Girl Scout cookies with the first responders. Awesome job, Athena!!
