" I love to Bake" by Ellery, Grade 2

I like to bake. Wait, I love to bake! I started baking with my grandma when I was probably 2. I would sit on the counter and crack the eggs for her. That was my favorite part. When I got older, I was reading the recipes and mixing on my own. Then I learned to pipe frosting and use different frosting tips. One time I spent the day with a pastry chef and made a candyland cake. It was colorful and delicious.

My favorite thing to bake is brownies, but I also like to make cakes because I get to decorate them. I even won the Richland cake contest for my Halloween pumpkin design. My favorite cake I ever made is probably my Eiffel tower cake. I love Paris and hope to go there one day! I would love to learn how to make macarons one day.

Baking is really fun and the best part is at the end, you get to eat it!

"Earth Day" by Matrim, Grade 1

Our class celebrated Earth Day on April 22 and we learned important ways to take care of our world. One activity is we can plant trees. Our class planted acorns at school. Another activity is we can clean up the ocean by picking up litter. Also, we can recycle tops of pizza boxes. In addition, we can compost our food. Another idea is we can reuse items. Finally we can use less water! I turn off the water when I brush my teeth. We honored our Earth by picking up trash and recycling paper at Richland Elementary School.
