The Scopy of ankle usually is less common in-patient procedure. Usually the doctor will counsel you for this procedure only in recalcitrant cases. The benefits of the procedure depends mainly on your diagnosis and post-operative expectations.

The cases with symptomatic involvement of a region of ankle joint or a focussed lesion benefit the most. Generalised ankle arthritis or post-traumatic arthritis patients may only do transiently well and may become symptomatic of similar grade soon after surgery.

The main indications for ankle arthroscopy are:

• Osseous impingement
• Osteochondral defect
• Loose body removal
• Arthrolysis and debridement
• Synovectomy and biopsy

The procedure is performed under spinal anaesthesia and the patient is allowed to walk not weight bearing after 24 hours. Weight bearing will start as per the standard protocol after surgical procedure.
