“If the trees could walk”

Having in mind that 2011 has been declared, by the UN General Assembly resolution, the International Year of Forests, the Board of the Manifestation decided that the theme of the 42nd Gathering of children of Europe be “If the trees could walk” based on the title of the poem by the famous children’s writer, Grigor Vitez. The theme should serve as just a stimulus for contemplation on the phenomenon of trees and forests, and the inspiration should be drawn from the history of civilization, from myths, legends, fairytales, through art literature, to ecologically aware understanding of nature from the aspect of modern man.
