Detailed plan for regulation of Zvezdara forest approved

City Assembly on a session held on December 15th, decided to approve the detailed plan for regulation of Zvezdara forest. Amendment that provides that some of the paved roads that were meant to be built in Zvezdara forest are not built, has been taken into account and approved. However, the plan for regulation of Zvezdara forest still provides more than 200 parking spaces and large areas for construction (approx. 70 000 square meters). In most unfortunate turn of events, City Assembly decided to approve plan for regulation first, and study for protection of Zvezdara forest that will give legal grounds for preventing any construction in Zvezdara forest later. This allows for various kind of shady dealings to be made, that will further endanger survival of Zvezdara forest.This is a partial victory for Zvezdara Forest Protection Association. We managed something that no one achieved so far in Republic of Serbia - to change urbanistic plan in a way that suits people and environment more. But a long battle still remains in order to fully protect Zvezdara forest.This news in Serbian media:
