Indian National Science Academy - By requesting a login, it is possible to access their library of documents on a variety of historic and archaeological topics. I have found articles ranging from period dye techniques to hygiene. A truly fantastic resource.
Jstor.com - A repository of academic journals. A subscription is needed for access, however most libraries will have subscriptions.

In general they have a search form that can be used to search on keywords such as "India", "textiles", "sculpture", & etc. The museums listed here are ones that I have found to have particularly large or informative collections of Indian artifacts.
