False dust jacket. One side has a parody of The Slippery Slope cover artwork, with annotations and fake endorsements claiming that this is not a book by Lemony Snicket and is not about the Baudelaires. The other side has a hidden Olaf poster.

10. Unfortunate Event Kit

The items listed above were sent to booksellers as part of an Unfortunate Event Kit for The Slippery Slope. In addition to a countdown slider, two window decals, two bags of buttons (15 large or 25 small per bag), and a package of dust jackets, the box contained a booklet of "Reproducible Activities": puzzles and games for booksellers to photocopy and distribute to customers on release day.

11. Shelf Talker

Shelf talker with a spinning wheel to select portrait of disguised Olaf; reads, "Beware the many faces of misfortune.”

Cardboard shelf/stand for bookstores to display copies of the newly released book. Stand topper is a 3D version of the front cover illustration, complete with sparkly snow. Tagline: “The most chilling book yet in Lemony Snicket’s New York Times best-selling series”.

Egmont:

1. The Slippery Slope Clue (Egmont version)

One-page letter that, when folded and cut according to the printed instructions, formed two paper dolls holding hands and revealed a secret message about The Slippery Slope: "Two Will Disappear And Never Be Seen Again".
