1. Official Movie Magazine
Nickelodeon Magazine "Nick Mag" Special Edition. Contains interviews with Lemony Snicket, Daniel Handler, and Jim Carrey; a graphic novel adaptation of the movie; puzzles; a behind-the-scenes article; a Marvelous Marriage playbill; exclusive Brett Helquist artwork; and a Sebald Code message. Each magazine also contains a perforated tear-out with one of the two possible designs of the thirteenth promotional trading card, plus either the odd-numbered or the even-numbered trading cards 1-12.
2. Soundtrack bookmark
Bookmark included inside the CD release of the movie's soundtrack; features illustrations from the movie's credit sequence.
3. The "Unfortunate" Photo Holder
Photo frame ornament from American Greetings / Carlton Cards (Heirloom Ornament Collection #99). A photo of the owner can be inserted into the frame to pose with the movie-Baudelaires and a silhouette of movie-Olaf. Sold during the 2004 and 2005 holiday seasons.
4. Tie-in books
Published in fall 2004 during the build-up to the movie release.
Behind the Scenes with Count Olaf: a parody of typical behind-the-scenes movie books, with annotations by Count Olaf.
The Puzzling Puzzles: contains humorous word games, mazes, crafts, and a recipe for Pasta Puttanesca. Two editions were published. The first, released in 2004, features Jim Carrey as Count Olaf on the front cover. The second, released in 2006, features a color illustration of the Baudelaires from The Bad Beginning Limited Edition on the front cover and includes several new puzzles.

5. Hot Topic merchandise
In spring/summer 2005 Hot Topic released two movie tie-in t-shirts.
"Lemony Snicket Run Orphans Run Tee": a burgundy-colored t-shirt with cap sleeves. The front reads “Run Orphans Run!” with illustrations from the movie's credit sequence, and the back has an eye logo design in the top left corner.
"Lemony Snicket First Impressions Tee": a plum-colored t-shirt. The front reads "First impressions are often entirely wrong" with a illustration of Violet Baudelaire sitting on a tree stump and holding one of her inventions. The same illustration was also used for Card #1 ("Hardship") in the promotional trading cards and was printed on the back cover of the 2005 movie tie-in calendar.
