Standard I Artifacts

Standards:

The standards listed at left outline what will be addressed throughout the assignment and what will be assessed in order for the student to demonstrate mastery of those standards.

The assignment in question was a webquest for language learners. Bernie Dodge, a pioneer in their development defines them as "inquiry-oriented activit(ies) in which some or all of the information that learners interact with comes from resources on the internet." This particular web quest is an example of a "Longer Term WebQuest...which extends and refines knowledge. After completing a longer term WebQuest, a learner would have analyzed a body of knowledge deeply, transformed it in some way, and demonstrated an understanding of the material by creating something that others can respond to, on-line or off-."

The webquest listed below is one that was created to be used either as a student assignment or an opportunity for professional development for instructors. All of the assignments created in QuestGarden offer the option to show a student page, with links to that versions components and another one for teachers. These assignments can easily be adapted, depending upon who the desired audience is.

Rubrics:

These ensure that the assignment is equitably assessed and evaluated. Here is the self-check rubric for the professional development version of the webquest.
