How to Submit a Revision to the Florida Constitution

So maybe you want to suggest a change to the Florida State Constitution while the Revision Commission is in the process of public hearings. But CRC meetings are scheduled at the last minute, are far away, or you don’t want to speak in front of a crowd. You can still have a voice.

At flcrc.gov you can submit a public proposal to the CRC, just click on “Proposals” in the header, then select “submit a proposal” and follow the prompts. You can view the constitution and the proposals others have submitted at this same website.

Suggested topics of interest:

· In Section 2: No person shall be deprived of any right because of race, religion, national origin, or physical disability. (Lots of categories missing from this section.)

· Automatic Restoration of voting rights to non-violent felons.

· Section 27 Marriage Defined (Needs updating for Same Sex Marriage.)

· Minimum Wage

· Independent Redistricting Commission

· Fracking

· Write-in Candidates closing primaries

· Changing Supervisor of Elections to a non-partisan position

It’s a democracy. Have at it!
