What is PQI?

PQI stands for:

    • Productivity

    • Quality

    • Innovation

It describes the 3 eras of the industry. These 3 eras are chronological.

At the beginning was the productivity. Then appeared quality. It uses the concepts defined in the productivity era and add all the concepts of the quality era.

As from a decade, innovation is required for excellence.

So, don' t try to innovate without Quality, and Productivity

1- Productivity era

For the company

There is a growing of consumption.The customer has no choice. We only find mass production

The goals are:

    • Respond to demand

    • Optimize production

    • Increase production rate

People that represents this era:

    • Taylor

For the designer

You have to do your job following well known rules, and knowledge, with the lower possible cost.

2- Quality era

For the company

There is a growing of competitors. Each company must differenciate its offer.

The goals are:

    • Be competitive

    • Ensure quality

    • Optimize organisation

People that represents this era:

    • Demings

    • Pareto

    • Ishikawa

For the designer

You have to improve your techniques, standardize the process and optimize them

3- Innovation era

For the company

The world change quicker and quicker.

The goals are:

    • To deal with complexity

    • Manage knowledge

    • Forecast production evolution
