20130629 Friends of The Parks Annual Meet-Up at Chumleigh Gardens

This Sunday with Daniel we attended the annual Friends of Parks Conference, a sort of general meet up with all the people in Southwark Council that have anything to do with the park administration and the various "Friends of " this or that Park, community group.

Rebecca Towers, the Parks and Open Spaces Manager, was there and bevy of important functionaries, most of whom we had met as some point already.

It was good to see and be seen. Much of the activities of a Friends organisation is actually to come and know the various people involved, and they change very often, and provide some sort of continuity, of theme, to the open spaces.

There was a LBS Presentations with Questions from the floor, then the Friends Presentations - (Peter Wright from Salisbury Row and Green Links, provided a video illustrating the completion of the long awaited project of the "Green Link"), the Friends of Burgess Park on volunteering focus and a Workshops - Dogs and Parks. The guided tour of the newly restructured Burgess Park was postponed for the afternoon.

A good buffet was provided.

We had a good time and made a lot of networking. A good day by all means.
