Third Quarter Portfolio

New photographs must be taken - all photos must be taken with a digital camera. Students will upload the project photos to Picasa, create a Third Quarter Portfolio page on their Digital Portfolio sites, and embed the project photos on the Third Quarter Portfolio page. Excellent quality work is expected. At least one photo from each of the following categories must be included in the Third Quarter Portfolio page:

  • An insect
  • An animal
  • Fashion (this is not a portrait - the photo shows off the clothing)
  • Candid
  • Food
  • A Digital Art piece (Photoshopped photography)
  • Magazine style Portrait
  • Product (product shot like a magazine ad)
  • Plant/Flower
  • Architecture (an interesting and unusual point of view)

Be creative and have fun. Students will have until March 11, 2011 to complete this assignment – No Lates!!! (that's the end of the quarter and the last day of school before Spring Break)

Scoring for each photo is as follows:

1. Creativity: 10 points (Original idea. Full credit given to concepts where thought has been given to details.)

2. Sharpness: 20 points (Subject is sharp and detailed. The Depth of Field is appropriate for that subject)

3. Arrangement: 10 points (Thought is given to the arrangement of both the subject and the lighting.)

4. Lighting: 20 points (Lighting is appropriate to the mood of the subjects. A lighting chart must be inserted on the page to accompany the photo. Online Lighting Diagram Creator for photographers site must be used - export the diagram as a .png and upload it to Picasa) *required

5. Photoshopping: 20 points (touchups including levels, etc.)

6. Notes: 20 points (Aperture, Shutter Speed, Date, explanation of lighting plan with intentions, and Title of Photo) *required

This project is worth a total of 1000 points (up to 100 points for each print). Up to one extra photo in each category may be submitted after all categories are completed for extra credit to raise the total possible score up to a maximum of 1100/1000.
