Ekklesia House

The board invested significantly in making this a special place to live, and annual gathering spot for the entire coop of ~40 Members.  The kitchen was entirely redone in 2009, in recognition that E-House residents were keeping up with house chores sufficiently to take good care of a home that some are taking pride in. E-House has 11 units, yet can house up to 14 when people share rooms.  A two level patio on the back of this house provides an alternative exit for residents on the three floors, and a fun sunny gathering area in summer.

Internet:

The frustration of residents with local internet providers have been expressed to our BOD many times.  Contracts with low introductory offers that commit one to more expensive rates later, unreliable service, monopolistic practices, and high hook up fees have all been alleged by residents seeking to get MSC involved.  Letting technicians drill holes through the side of our houses into bedrooms as they please is also problematic, yet we feel tenants have a right to contract for internet somehow.

The MSC has avoided involvement in providing residents internet services, which they can often contract for better on their own.  However, with many residents in E-House we have wired coaxial cables to the rooms, and continue to reevaluate collective purchase of internet for E-House.  The goal would be to restrict access to those who pay their share, and to not raise rent on those who never intend to use the amenity.  MSC has yet to see a business contract with acceptable terms to assure both an acceptable service to those interested, and a fair burden of financial obligation to those with other priorities.  Without such a contract, we can't accept responsibility for the quality of services, or the fairness of rates provided by a third party.  E-House is the chosen pilot project site if the BOD believes they may have found such a contract.
