The Elborne family

My family seem to come from Chatteris, Cambridge Enland and Wendy,
cum Shingay, Cambridge, England then into Little Shelford around 29
June 1639 When JOHN ELBORNE and MARGARET HIND were married I have a
copy of his Will
WILL OF JOHN ELBORNE - DATED 21 JAN 1675.
Memdum ye ------ being ye one and twenty day of January according to
t he Computison of ye church of England one thousand six hundred
seventy a nd five JOHN ELBORNE of LITTLE SHELFORD in ye county of
Cambridge, yeoma n, being ____ of a sound & perfect memory did declare
his will nuncupati ve in these or the like words to attest as
followeth (viz 1) he did gi ve to JOHN ELBORNE his eldest son one
bedstead and a cupboard, and to WI LL ELBORNE a
bedstead & bedding, and to MARY ELBORNE his daughter ye wife of GEORGE
WOO DBRIDGE a stock of bees & a hutch and some Earthonware, And to
ROBERT ELBO RNE his son thirty shillings and to HENRY ELBORNE his son
a calfe and to K ATHERINE ELBORNE his daughter a stock of bees & a
hutch. And ___ gi ve ye rest of his goods to his son THOMAS ELBORNE
to pay his debts & legac ies and to bring his body decently to ye
ground & did make him his sole ex ecutor. These words were spoken in
ye presence of us witness on ___ ye fi fth day of February in ye year
of our Lord God 1675.

WILL OF THOMAS ELBORNE-
The Last Will and Testament of me THOMAS ELBORNE of SHELFORD PVA in ye
cou nty of Cambridge, Blacksmyth made this thirtieth day of December
Anno D in One thousand seven hundred & thirteen as followeth -
Imprimis I gi ve & devise all ye my Coppyhold Tenement wherein I now
dwell together wi th ye outhouses yards coppyhold close & homestall
thereto adjoyning & belo nging in Shelford aforesaid with their & any
of their apptentes unto MA RY my loving wife for & during the term of
her natural life And after h er decease unto my Brother HENRY ELBORNE
for & during his natural life A nd after his decease then unto THOMAS
ELBORNE ye Son of my said brother HE NRY & to his heirs forever Upon
conditiion never the less & my mind & wi ll is that my said brother
HENRY ELBORNE or ye said THOMAS his son his he irs or assigns forever
or one of them do & shall well & truly pay or cau se to be paid unto
my Brother ROBERT ELBORNE ye sum of Twenty pounds of la wful money of
Great Britain within one year next after my said wifes decea se And
incase my said Brother ROBERT ELBORNE shall depart this life befo re
ye said Twenty pounds shall become due& payable that then ye said HEN
RY ELBORNE or ye said THOMAS his son & his heirs & assignes some or o
ne of them do & shall well & truly pay ye said Twenty pounds unto
THOMAS E LBORNE ye son of my said Brother ROBERT his executors,
administrators or a ssignes at the time before limited for the payment
thereof. And if it sha ll happen that the said HENRY ELBORNE and
THOMAS his son & his heirs & ass ignes shall refuse or neglect to pay
ye said Twenty pounds as before is ex pressed & ____ being lawfully
demanded that then I give & devise ye said t enement, outhouses, yards
close & homestall with their ___ of their appten s. unto my said
Brother ROBERT ELBORNE & THOMAS his son & to ye heirs of t he last
mentioned THOMAS forever. Item I give & devise all that my __ fre
ehold land lying in Shelford aforesaid in a field ____ ye White Fields
bet ween the baulks & abutting____ Road _____ Thriplow way unto my
said lovi ng wife for & during her natural life & after her decease
then I give & de vise the same unto MARY REYNOLDS the daughter of my
brother in law RICHA RD REYNOLDS ___ & to her heirs forever. Item all
the rest & resid ue of my freehold & coppyhold lands lying in ye
fields of Shelford aforesa id & all other my overall estate whatsoever
(not hereby before given & dev ised) I give & devise unto ye sd. Mary
my wife & to her heirs forever. It em I give and bequeath unto JOHN
ELBORNE son of my late brother JOHN ELBOR NE ___ one shilling of
lawful money of Great Britain And to THOMAS ELBOR NE ye son of my sd.
late brother JOHN Twenty shillings of like money A nd to ANNE ye
youngest daughter of my sd. late brother JOHN Twenty shillin gs of
like money. Item I give & bequeath unto my Brother WILLIAM ELBOR NE
five shillings as a token of my love And unto WILLIAM REYNOLDS the s
on of my sd. late Brother RICHARD REYNOLDS Twenty shillings of like
lawf ul money. All which legacies I will shall be paid by my
Executrix hereaft er named within one month next after my decease.
Item all ye rest & resid ue of my goods chattles & personal effects
whatsoever after my debts & leg acies are paid & discharged I give &
bequeath unto the said Mary my lovi ng wife Which said Mary my wife I
do nominate & appoint Executrix of th is my last will and testament
hereby revoking all former wills by me mad e. In witness whereof I
have hereunto set my hand & seal ye day & year fi rst above written.
