    1. Be sure that you're connected to the Internet (wired connection).

    3. Perform or skip media verification.

    4. Wait for initial graphical screen.

    5. Hit the Next button.

    6. Choose language, and confirm by hitting the Next button.

    7. Choose keyboard layout, and confirm by hitting the Next button.

    9. Type the desired host name (eg: host.domain.tld), and confirm by hitting the Next button.

    10. Select appropriate time zone, and confirm by hitting the Next button.

    11. Enter root password (minimum 6 characters long entered twice for confirmation, as typing doesn't show), and carry on by hitting the Next button.

    12. Choose how disk space should be used for installation of Fedora 11 (if you don't feel comfortable on this screen, just accept the default, and most probably will install Fedora on the entire disk), and confirm by hitting the Next button.

    13. If you chose to review partitioning (previous screen), edit partitions to your needs, and confirm by hitting the Next button.

    14. At this point, existing data on disk can be lost, so confirm it by hitting the Write changes to disk button.

    15. Configure the boot loader, like choosing what operating system will be loaded by default by the boot loader, and confirm by hitting the Next button.

    16. Choose the Network Interface you'll be using to connect to the Internet for downloading the installation packages, and confirm by hitting the OK button.

    17. On this screen you can select, in a simple manner, groups of software packages to be installed. I'm going for a low disk space initial installation (further needed packages can be installed later, after the installation is concluded). This won't be the minimal installation (500MB) as described here.

      1. Deselect every package group (Office and Productivity).

      2. Keep all repositories selected (Fedora 11 and Updates).

      3. Select Customize now.

      4. Hit the Next button.

      5. At this point you can select the packages you need from 6 main groups of packages (Desktop, Apps, Dev, Servers, Base, Languages). Each main group has a set of other groups of software packages.

        1. At the Desktop Environments select only GNOME (if you want, you can select/deselect individual packages from this group).

        2. At the Applications main group deselect Games and Entertainment and Text-based Internet. On Graphical Internet deselect ekiga, pidgin, transmission, and on Sound and Video deselect brasero, cdparanoia, genisoimage, icedax, sound-juicer, sox, totem.

        3. At Development everything is deselected.

        4. At Servers, keep the Print Support.

        5. At Base System, deselect only if you know what you're doing.

        6. At Language Support, everything is deselected.

      6. Hit the Next button.

    18. Installation of the selected software packages starts at this point. Should take around 1 hour, depending on packages you selected, your computer performance, and the speed you're connecting to the Internet.

    19. Follow screen instructions.

    20. Hit the Reboot button.

    21. Wait for the computer to reboot.

Initial configuration

The first time that the system is booted (first boot), a configuration screen is shown.

    4. Adjust Date and Time. You should consider enabling the Network Time Protocol to keep system's clock synchronized. Hit theForward button to proceed.

    5. Choose if your hardware profile should be sent to Fedora, and hit Finish to proceed.

Used Disk Space

Around 2.2GiB are taken by this installation.
