Download DVD image

Installation

    1. Boot from DVD.

    2. Wait for the system to boot.

    3. Select «Install or upgrade an existing system».

    4. If you're sure your DVD is OK, then «Skip» media test, and start installation.

    5. Wait for initial graphical screen.

    6. Inside the installer:

      1. Hit the Next button.

      2. Select OS language, and confirm by hitting the Next button.

      3. Select proper keyboard, and confirm by hitting the Next button.

      4. If another LINUX system is installed, select «Install Fedora» (Upgrade not covered by these instructions).

      5. Type the desired host name (eg: host.domain.tld), and confirm by hitting the Next button.

      6. Select appropriate time zone, and confirm by hitting the Next button.

      7. Enter root password (minimum 6 characters long entered twice for confirmation, as typing doesn't show), and carry on by hitting the Next button.

      8. Choose how disk space should be used for installation of Fedora 11 (if you don't feel comfortable on this screen, just accept the default, and most probably will install Fedora on the entire disk), and confirm by hitting the Next button.

      9. If you chose to review partitioning (previous screen), edit partitions to your needs, and confirm by hitting the Next button.

      10. At this point, existing data on disk can be lost, so confirm it by hitting the Write changes to disk button.

      11. Configure the boot loader, like choosing what operating system will be loaded by default by the boot loader, and confirm by hitting the Next button.

      12. Select the packages you want to install. Select «Customize now» if you want to detail your selection of packages to install. Proceed by hitting «Next».

      13. Wait that the selected packages finishes being copied to disk from DVD.

      14. Hit the Reboot button.

      15. Remove the DVD.

      16. Wait for initial configuration.

Initial configuration

The first time that the system is booted (first boot), a configuration screen is shown.

    1. Hit the Forward button.

    2. Read the License Information, and hit the Forward button to proceed.

    3. Create a user. Enter Username, Full Name, Password and Confirmation. Hit the Forward button to proceed.

    4. Adjust Date and Time. You should consider enabling the Network Time Protocol to keep system's clock synchronized. Hit the Forward button to proceed.

    5. Choose if your hardware profile should be sent to Fedora, and hit Finish to proceed.

Used Disk Space

An almost full installation took around 6GiB disk space.
