FEDORA 11

Tested Platforms

My personal experience with this version (11) of Fedora:

    • Fedora 11 works much better than Fedora 10 on a Acer Aspire One (8GB SSD version). It installs out of the box, including support for the storage expansion SD card.

    • Fedora 11 also installed out of the box on a INSYS laptop (http://www.in-systems.com/), although I'm not sure of the model. It was one of the e.escola laptop models supplied by TMN (probably a 8761SU). This computer came pre-installed with a Linux distribuition from Caixa Mágica. OpenSUSE 11 failed booting with the Flash Card on the Turbo Boost slot. Fedora 11 was the option that worked well, out of the box.

    • Fedora 11 failed booting (hangs on Creating initial device nodes) on a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600, after a network installation that failed to reboot, where Fedora 10 didn't. Although an installation from Live CD media of Fedora 11 succeeded, graphical capabilities were reduced to 800x600. A second network install attempt also failed to reboot, but a safe shutdown was possible by briefly pressing the on/off switch, and the system booted successfully. Same problem persisted: only 800x600. This problem was easily solved: check HERE and HERE.
