Chapters 61-69

Chapter 61: The Ranks

4 Allah loveth them who battle for His cause in ranks, as if they were a solid structure.

5 So when they went astray, Allah sent their hearts astray. And Allah guideth not the evil-living folk.

7 And who doeth greater wrong than he who inventeth a lie against Allah

9 He it is Who hath sent His messenger with the guidance and the religion of truth, that He may make it conqueror of all religion however much idolaters may be averse.

Chapter 62: The Congregation

5 The likeness of Jews is as the likeness of an ass carrying books. Wretched is the likeness of those who deny the revelations of Allah.

6 O ye who are Jews! If ye claim that ye are favoured of Allah apart from (all) mankind, then long for death if ye are truthful.

Chapter 63: The Hypocrites

3 Because they believed, then disbelieved, therefore their hearts are sealed so that they understand not.

4 They are the enemy, so beware of them. Allah confound them! How they are perverted!

6 Whether thou ask forgiveness for them or ask not forgiveness for them; Allah will not forgive them. Allah guideth not the evil-living folk.

9 O ye who believe! Let not your wealth nor your children distract you from remembrance of Allah. Those who do so, they are the losers.

Chapter 64: Mutual Disillusion

5 Hath not the story reached you of those who disbelieved of old and so did taste the ill-effects of their conduct, and theirs will be a painful doom.

10 But those who disbelieve and deny Our revelations, such are owners of the Fire; they will abide therein - a hapless journey's end!

14 O ye who believe! Among your wives and your children they are enemies for you, therefor beware of them.

15 Your wealth and your children are only a temptation, whereas Allah! with Him is an immense reward.

16 So keep your duty to Allah.

17 If ye lend unto Allah a goodly loan, He will double it for you and will forgive you, for Allah is Responsive.

Chapter 65. Divorce

1 O Prophet! When ye (men) put away (divorce) women, put them away for their (legal) period and reckon the period, and keep your duty to Allah. Expel them not from their houses nor let them go forth unless they commit open immorality.

2 Then, when they have reached their term, take them back in kindness or part from them in kindness, and call to witness two just men among you, and keep your testimony upright.

4 Such of your women as have passed the age of monthly courses, for them the prescribed period, if ye have any doubts, is three months, and for those who have no courses {wives not yet reached puberty} it is the same. For those who carry {life within their wombs}, their period is until they deliver their burdens. {This verse endorses paedophilia by specifying a waiting period of three months after divorcing a female who has not yet commenced menstruation. Therefore not only could you marry a child, but you could also divorce her before puberty.}

5 That is the commandment of Allah which He revealeth unto you.

6 Lodge them where ye dwell, according to your wealth, and harass them not so as to restrict life for them. If they are with child, then spend for them till they bring forth their burden. Then, if they suckle your (offspring), give them their recompense: and take mutual counsel together. And if ye find yourselves in difficulties, let another woman suckle (the child). {Should there be any difficulty in the marriage, maintain the pregnant wife until birth of child, then give the child to another woman to suckle and proceed with the divorce. The mother therefore loses rights to the child.}

Chapter 66: Banning

5 If he divorce you, Allah will give in your place wives better than you, submissive (to Allah), believing, pious, penitent, devout, inclined to fasting, widows and maids. {This verse was revealed at the time Muhammad was caught in bed with the servant of his wife }

6 O ye who believe! Ward off from yourselves and your families a Fire whereof the fuel is men and stones.

9 O Prophet! Strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be stern with them. Hell will be their home, a hapless journey's end.

10 Allah cites an example for those who disbelieve: the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot, who betrayed their husbands, so they entered the Fire along with those who enter.

Chapter 67: The Sovereignty

5 And verily We have beautified the world's heaven with lamps (stars), and We have made them missiles for the devils, and for them We have prepared the doom of flame. {Stars are missiles to attack the devils.}

6 And for those who disbelieve in their Lord there is the doom of hell, a hapless journey's end!

7 When they are flung therein they hear its roaring as it boils up

28 Who will protect the disbelievers from a painful doom?

Chapter 68: The Pen

6 Which of you is the demented.

8 Therefor obey not thou the rejecters

11-13 They are detractors, spreader abroad of slanders, Hinderer of the good, transgressor, malefactor, Greedy therewithal, intrusive.

15 That, when Our revelations are recited unto him, he saith: Mere fables of the men of old.

16 We shall brand him on the nose.

33 Such was the punishment. And verily the punishment of the Hereafter is greater if they did but know.

Chapter 69: The Reality

4-6 The tribes of Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. Thamud, were destroyed by the lightning. A'ad, were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind. {Disbelievers will be destroyed}

14 And (at the end) the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash.

30-32 (It will be said): Take the disbeliever and fetter him, and then expose him to hell-fire and then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits.

33 He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous,

34 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched.

35 Therefor hath he no lover here this day,

44 And if he had invented false sayings concerning Us,

45-48 We assuredly had taken him and then severed his life-artery, and not one of you could have held us off from him.

49 And lo! We know that some among you will deny (it). 50 And lo! it is indeed an anguish for the disbelievers.
