Michela Carattini

Michela Carattini made her professional debut with The Houston Grand Opera at the age of fourteen, winning the only female child solo in their internationally televised production of Kurt Weill’s Street Scene. Since, she has appeared in musicals such as Jesus Christ Superstar (“dance captain”, AMTC Germany), Godspell (“Sonia”, AMTC Germany and CU NYC), Cinderella (“Wicked Stepmother”, GMT, US Tour), Alice In Wonderland (“Alice”, GMT, US Tour), Cabaret (“Helga”, Off-Broadway) and The Student Prince at the Heidelberg Castle in Germany (Staatstheater Heidelberg). Favoured roles in straight plays include “The Angel” in Angels in America (ADP NYC) and “Sarah” in Children of a Lesser God (AMDA). Television and film credits count CU2054 (CTV), Strangers with Candy (Comedy Central), Third Watch (NBC/WBTV) and XX/XY (MGM). In Australia, she was once a street performer at Old Sydney Town and most recently portrayed “Temptation” in the physical theatre piece Hello (Short+Sweet Sydney) and "The Court Performer/Player Queen" in Hamlet (Emu Heights Productions). She is also a choreographer, documentary maker, published poet, and mum, among other things! Michela is a graduate of The American Musical & Dramatic Academy in NYC, Columbia University (BAPsych) and Sydney University (MCrim).

A regular at Crash Test Drama Sydney since 2010, most recently Michela has won "Best Actress" for CTD June 2012, Season One 2012 and October 2012.
