Our Annual Car Show falls on the 50th Anniversary of the First Moon Walk; therefore we would like to dedicate some time to the First Moon Walk and the History of the Space Program.

This week we will focus on the Apollo 11 Moon Mission:

Apollo 11 Mission Audio:

Day 1: July 16, 1969

Mission Objective: To complete a national goal set by President John F Kennedy on May 25, 1964; perform a crewed lunar landing and return to earth.

Additional objectives: Scientific exploration by lunar module (LM) crew.

Deployment of television camera to transmit images to earth.

Deployment of solar wind composition experiment.

Gathering of lunar surface materials by crew and return to earth.

Extensive photography of lunar terrain by crew. (Still and motion picture cameras)

Apollo 11 was the last mission to fly "free-return" trajectory. (Return to earth with no engine firing)
