Eastern 15 May

On Saturday 15th May ten teams arrived at Rutland Water for the BSDRA Eastern Championships hosted by Oakham School. This was the first time the event had been held at Rutland Water sailing club. The conditions were perfect throughout the day with sunshine and a steady force two breeze occasionally gusting to force three. Forty races were sailed throughout the day.

The teams were initially split into two leagues sailing round robins before being seeded into Gold and Silver fleets for the afternoon sailing. Norwich dominated the gold fleet winning all of their four matches comfortably and followed by Oundle who took second place having lost just one match. In the silver fleet Ipswich won the competition beating all of their opponents although being challenged right until the finish line by the Uppingham team.

Thanks to all of the staff and parents who helped out throughout the day to make this event run so smoothly.

Overall results: 1st Norwich School, 2nd Oundle School, 3rd Oakham School, 4th Haileybury school, 5th Rutland Sailing Club.
