Reserves who never played for the first team (1946-71)

The spreadsheet below gives details of players who appeared in competitive reserve matches in seasons 1946/7 to 1970/1, but who are not known to have appeared for the first team.

Players' details-Many of the players who appeared for the Eaglets also, of course, played for the first team at various times, and details of their careers can be found in the Players' Lists, 1945-50, Players Lists for the Best Years 1950-67, or Player List, 1967-82 as appropriate, and these are all indexed in the All Years Player Index.

For those who never played for the first team, inevitably there are many about whom little or nothing is known-but please let me know (dewoldpo@gmail.com) if you can add anything. (Click on the icon at the top left hand corner to expand the list).

There are some possible duplications (eg the (?)two Tom Gardiners, A and R Knox).  Up to the early 1960s some of those for whom there is very little information are quite likely to have been National Servicemen from RAF Cardington or Henlow, or Kempston Army Depot, which were regular sources of players in emergencies.

Players known to have come through the  Colts, "A" or Mercia League teams are noted as such, but a number of other players on the list are likely to have played for those teams before playing for the reserves.

PM = Player manager, BC=Boys Club, LRBC=London Road Boys Club, but Wootton BC= Wootton Blue Cross!
