Into the Southern League (1945-50)

 Introduction

This section of the site provides an overview of Bedford Town's first five seasons in the Southern League.

It features-

• A Season by season commentary, 1945-50, which contains an account of these seasons with photographs and, at the end, the relevant league tables.

• Line-ups -as far as can be discovered-showing the Results and teams, 1945-50  for each competitive match in this period

• Players' Lists, 1945-50 An alphabetical list of players who appeared in these seasons, with appearance and scoring statistics

When looking at this part of the site, please bear in mind that press coverage of the club's activities in these years was sometimes very sparse-and photographs were few and far between. Programmes for this period rarely come on to the market and when they do, they often contain little more than the team line-ups. Also, from a personal point of view, unlike the "Best Years" part of the site, this section covers years before I was born, so I've had to rely on the written records without the benefit of personal recollection.
