 Notes  England schools international, attended Silver Jubilee School, on leaving which he joined Man Utd (pro 6/62). To Bolton 5/64, Luton 7/65, Orient 12/66, Romford summer 68, to BTFC late 68/9. Acted as pools agent while playing for club. Released summer 71. Manager BTFC in 77/8 season-had retired as a player by then but made a few appearances to cover gaps at the end of the season, included in above stats (see Managers and Coaches, 1945-82.) Also managed Dunstable (sacked 10/76), Hillingdon, [then BTFC], Barnet (twice), Maidstone, Southend, Birmingham and Peterborough, later chairman and owner of Peterborough, now (2021) director of football there.  Celebrated 60 years in football with Peterborough's promotion to Championship in 2020/1. Notes  Pro at Notts Co 7/66,  to Loughborough 4/67, to Dunstable summer 68.  Appeared for BTFC on loan at end of 68/9, then signed for £500 summer 69, sold to Southend for £10K plus sell- on fee 11/69 (although BTFC gave up their rights in return for a smaller lump sum when in financial straits in summer 72). Sold by Southend to Chelsea Sept 72 for £100,000. To Cambridge Utd (free transfer) 11/78, Chelmsford 10/80 (month's trial, not retained), , Brentford summer 83,  Whyteleafe by 10/86 until at least 2/87.  Whereabouts between 10/80 and summer 83 unknown. Resigned 3/73 but remained as player till end of season (see Managers and Coaches, 1945-82). Returned to Colchester to manage youth team summer 73 but played a few matches on loan to Romford that season. Later on Wolves (by 75/6) and Arsenal coaching staffs and later coached in Australia where he still lives- see http://www.wolvesheroes.com/2010/08/04/garvey-giant-killer-of-some-renown/ . Had a spell as caretaker manager at Wolves autumn 78.

Son Simon has played for numerous non- league clubs including Dover, Chelmsford , Maidstone,  Hornchurch,  and most recently (2016) Heybridge Swifts

To Hitchin at end of 81/2, at Kidderminster by 12/82, at Buckingham by 11/84.  PM in second spell at Wootton, 93 -97-played into his late 40s.

Head of Centre of Excellence at Northampton in Sep 2012, retired to a part time Academy role at the club Sept 2018.  Brother Bobby played for Coventry, Arsenal, Wolves (twice), WBA,, Bristol C, West Ham, Bristol Rovers and Hereford, later managed Bristol Rovers (twice), Coventry (twice), Wimbledon, WBA, Cardiff, Cheltenham and Wales.  Son Rob managed Northampton Spencer.
