Week # 2- Journal

Ideation

Tell us about your assignment's idea for this week. Why do you care about this idea? What inspired you? (Please include images or links to sources of inspiration)

I wanted to design a (mobile holder) where the mobile is easily placed in both horizontal and vertical positions and I like to integrate heritage arts into my designs So many designs of pharaonic art fell in front of me I was inspired by my design, which is two pyramids with a hieroglyph on them

Tool Chain

Which software/machines/materials did you use in the assignment? Why?

software

for cad software i used fusion 360

laser cutter cam software

RDworksV8

why I used this software

.This program contains many features that help in the design and make it look great This program helps to design types of sketches (2d,2,5d,3d) and contains the feature of assembly and also we can form it any shape we want with the utmost freedom

its an easy cam program to use and machine which i use agree with this cam software with features of scanning by different types and cutting ,simulation too I
can get a coolest 2d designs

machine which i used

El Malky ML1390 CO2 Laser Cutter. It Is an Egyptian-made CNC laser cutting machine

its an suitable machine to use in learning and mini prototyping with one color interface

material

nails

i use it to attach the parts together to make product

plywood

A material that is available, easy to find, and the cheapest price compared to other materials

Design/Preparation Process

Explain the design and/or preparation process of your assignment. How did you use the tool or software to design and/or prepare your assignment before fabrication/implementation?

2,5d mobile holder with fusion360 (cad) / laser cutter (cam)

dimensions 2,5 model (140mm*90mm*80mm)

dimensions board (200mm*250)

cut (10 speed,60 power) ,scan (200 speed ,25 power)

took (15m) fabrication

1- search for inspiration in pinterest

2- install a free version of fusion360

# fully defined sketches

#design sketching with dimensions (100*90*100)mm

3- design a 2d sketch with different tools such as spline, circle, rectangle, and some features such as constraints and circular pattern .

4- after that, I add T- a slot and interlocks to assemble later, fully defined all elements I designed by dimensions and added 2d pattern

# adding pattern

#extrude the sketches to assembly

5- I finished the sketch and extruded all faces to get 2,5d design then I assembled all parts to get my shape

# render

6- saved 2d sketch as DXF file to export to roadworks v8

# adsuting design in rdwork

7-open the 2d file in rdworks and Adjust the appropriate settings for cutting for the best result

by cut (10 speed,60 power) ,scan ( 200 speed ,25 power)

8-save file (rld) and rename with it to finding by the easiest way

9-download the saved file in card

Development/Implementation Process

Explain the development/implementation process of your assignment. How did you use the machine/tool to manufacture or implement the design of your assignment?

  1. save file (rld) to flashcard

  2. click (file) from control panel and choose from screen (new desk) and click (enter) from control panel

  3. from screen choose (read new desk) and click (enter) then choose my file + (copy to memory) and click (enter)

  4. click (escape) from control panel and adjusting the nozzle + click (orient) from control panel to get my start point

  5. adjusting nozzle focus (,6mm)

  6. click (file) and choose (track) to define the workspace then choose ( worktime) to get time of fabrication

  7. click run from control panel to get start

Overcoming Challenges

What kinds of challenges or problems did you face while doing the assignment, tutorials, or exercises? How did you solve them? Did you ask for help from an instructor or peer? Please provide a link to the tutorial or article that you used to solve your problem (if any)

1- The first problem I faced while making a cardboard model for the phone holder was that I thought that it should be an amplifier, but unfortunately, it did not work and I am still looking for a solution

Title of Media

2- The second problem was in Fusion, which is in fully defining all the dimensions. I could not solve it on my own. I asked for help from Slack and found more than one suggestion and came to a temporary solution, which is defining each point and line with a horizontal and vertical dimension from the center to make it fully defined, but this solution is not very practical, more and the dimensions are intertwined and I am continuing in Find an easier solution

3- I wanted to draw an ornament on my design inspired by pharaonic art, and I wanted a tool that would give me the decoration ready instead of drawing it. Indeed, so maker who helped me his name is Yassin Al-Feky, who knew a tool or program (Inkscape) that did this task, which is a spill that converts the image into lines that can be modified, and indeed I did that to draw the shape of the decoration that I want

Final Project nobiea

How can you use the skills and knowledge that you've acquired this week in your final project?

  1. I learned to design a two-dimensional sketch with Fully Defined dimensions,

  2. I learned to design the interlocks, wtith t slots and the most suitable site for them,

  3. I learned to assemble and connect the parts together,

  4. I learned how to sketch and get 2,5 design

  5. , I learned how to dig a pattern on the design and choose the appropriate drilling degree

  6. and learned how to choose appropriate dimensions for providing time and material

WOW!

What is the coolest thing that you've learned this week? What is something that you will never forget from this week?

I learned a new type of design (2.5d), how to assemble pieces on Fusion and how to design a three-dimensional shape from two-dimensional parts, and I knew the importance of details and always being inspired.

2.5 chair using extrude sketching and assemble feature and appearance too

Weekly Digest [OPTIONAL]

Tell us about any other cool things that you've made this week: in the Hands-on activity, tutorial examples, exercises, or any other cool mini-project that you tried out aside from the assignment.
