Final Project Proposal

Project Ideation

1- Tell us about the purpose of your project. Which problem does it solve? Why do you care about this? What were you inspired by? Include images and videos of similar projects

My field of study is my interest. I always like to research any new or existing problems in tools or devices of different types and sizes in the home or different manufacturing tools. In the recent period, the art of Kinetic has caught my attention and how it became possible to integrate it with electronics to make it a product or electronic artwork that attracts the eye, so I wanted to Combine that art with a product that we can use in an electronic way to be a product can be used on a desk and more usages

my inspiration idea

my project

I always like motivational phrases, especially if my feeling is not good. I always look forward to seeing these phrases to make me happy. This will be done by integrating a motivational phrase that I love into an electronic product. This phrase will be highlighted through the art of kinetic and will also have the light that adds beauty to the product. And whoever suggested the idea to add Motivational phrase instead of numbers appearing is my maker friend Maryam Ashraf

phrases which i want to include

2- Describe the project idea and general features. How would it work?

my project will be a desk lighting unit with motivation phrases which highlight through the body

  • when I turn on the device I will see a cool phrase appear in slow motion from the body (word after word)

  • a comfortable light will be exist

  • I can control the light levels by modes too

3- Sketch your project: You may use pen and paper or a simple sketching tool like Microsoft Paint or Photoshop

Project Planning

4- Describe the Technical Modules that your project consists of

Construction Parts

  • I will design my body and phrases parts as 3d model using fusion360 and fabricated using 3d printing

  • parts ( small shelves) inside the body to carry servos will be 2d model using fusion360 and fabricated using 3d printing

  • for part of lighting (smoky acrylic part) will be 2d model using fusion360 and fabricated using laser cuter

Input

(Sensing, Tactile Input, and/or Graphical Input)

  • the light unit will take input from the user by push on/off switch to turn on the device

  • another input from user when controlled light levels

Action

(Physical and/or Graphic)

basic mode : when the user turn on the device by on/off switch

  • the motive phrase will appear in slow motion word after word by (3 servos)

  • light will appear at the same speed and same time

  • user can control light levels by controlling switch

Brain

An Arduino UNO board will be used take inputs and generate actions

Power Management

The device console will be powered using a 12 V adapter rather than a battery, to create a compact design for the console, also to have a continuous power source that doesn't run out like a battery

5- Create a cardboard prototype of your project, demonstrating the project face as well as internal movements and mechanisms. Include a demo video and photos of the prototype.

6- Categorize your project’s User Features into: Minimum, Complete, and Nice-to-have features. List the required action and input components per feature.

  • Minimum Features: are the least amount of features that would demonstrate the coverage of all the technical modules and their complete integration

  • Complete Features: are the set of features that will complete your original project objective and vision

  • Nice-to-have Features: are the extra set of features that will make the project cooler, yet they need extra time, effort, and/or resources to finish

Minimum User Features

when the user turns on the device by slide switch

  • the motive phrase will appear in slow motion word after word by 3 servos , light will turn on at the same time

    • Action1: RGB LED will turn on

    • Action2:3servos will move to push
      words outside body

    • sensing: none

    • User Input:slide switch

Complete User Features

  • user can controll light levels by bluetooth module

    • Action: RGB strip will change its colors from phone app

    • sensing: none

    • User Input: Bluetooth module and push button to (change modes of code)

Nice-to-have User Features

  • adding more senteces

    • Action: provide more words with
      more servos

    • Sensing: none

    • User Input: none
