Mara Dale

Theatre Educator

2023-2024 Theatre Classes Offered:

Performance Opportunities:

When I was 5, I saw my babysitter perform as the lead in my high school's musical, South Pacific. From then on, I was hooked! I received my BFA in Acting from Syracuse University and then pursued a career as a professional actor and performer in Chicago, my home town. I have performed and taught/directed theater in Chicago, Wisconsin, Indiana, California, Nashville, Boston, New York, Washington D.C., Scotland, and London. I quickly realized that teaching brought me greater fulfillment, although I still enjoy performing, so I moved to Boston to get a Masters of Arts in Theatre Education at Emerson College. After graduate school, I moved to Maine, performing in Maine State Music Theater and the Public Theater's production of Grease. I immediately started teaching theatre at Carrabec High School, and then Acadia Academy, where I received the Teacher of the Year award for the 2021-2022 school year.

Former students that I've coached have gone on to receive BA's and BFA's in theatre and musical theatre, perform professionally in NYC and Chicago, on Broadway, and in national commercials.

I look forward to making theatre and getting to know the FHS students, engaging with the Freeport community, and growing the arts programming at FHS.
