Homework

(Back to Faulkton Area School Policies)

The Board of Education believes that homework, as long as it is properly designed, carefully planned, and geared to the development of the individual student, meets a real need and has a definite place in the educational program.

Regulations for the assignment of homework will be according to these guidelines:

1. Homework should be a properly planned part of the curriculum, extending and reinforcing the learning experience of the school.

2. Homework should help students learn by providing practice in the mastery of skills, experience in data gathering, and integration of knowledge.

3. Homework should help develop the student’s responsibility by providing an opportunity to correct learning problems.

4. In assigning homework, a teacher should consider the student’s age and mastery of skills, the student’s need for playtime, and the student’s out-of-school responsibilities and activities.

5. Homework should be clearly assigned and it’s product carefully evaluated.

The Faulkton Area School recognizes the role of the parent by suggesting ways in which parents may assist the school in helping a student carry out his/her responsibilities.
