Word war practice

Erin was trying to retrieve a lost chopstick and a few other items from the air intake while the other crew members were doing a live remote with some school children in Canada. She didn't realize that there was also a utility blade stuck to the vent under some lint and it slashed her hand open. She quickly wrapped it in her shirt as a few drops of blood escaped and floated up to the vent. make that several drops of blood. It was a deep cut and it hurt badly. She'd pribaley need stitches, but she was the crew medic this trip, and she was pretty sure neither the commander nor ravintalova knew how to suture wounds properly, and their additional crew members wouldn;t be ip there for a few more days. She found some tissues and electrical tape and made herself a crude bandage to hold her while she looked for where the first aid kit wandered off to this time. She passed through the main control room where the staff at mission control saw her and eaved. when she didn't wave back but nodded politely, they asked her what was wrong.

"Just a cut. It's a nasty one, but I think I can talk the commander into or rather through suturing it up for me. Just trying to stop the bleeding while he's with the kids. no sense freaking them out."

"You need us to get a doctor to explain it or something? It may be easier if you aren't trying to explain it in reverse."

"We'll see." blood seeped through the tissue and began to float away.

"You really ought to interrupt him, Erin."

"You think so? It's not a big deal. I'll just put butterfly sutures on it, he should be done soon."

"Interrupt him."

"Did you see where we put the first aid kit?"

"It's in the japanese section, velcroed under the desk."

"Thanks!" Erin floated away towards the Japanese section.

"I think we ought to interrupt the feed, don't you?"

"She's a medic, she knows what she's doing. It's probably just a bleeder. Some cuts are that way."

"I suppose."

Erin went down to the Japanese sector and found the kit. She used butterfly sutures to close it then put gauze and proper bandage material on it, and some covax just to be safe, and went to go wait for the commander and ravintalova to finish their talk. Somewhere alongt the way she got really dizzy, and she called out in the hopes that mission control could hear her and get the commander or ravintalova to meet her in the hall way.

The room began to spin, Erin grabbed onto a foothold but accidentally used her bad hand and had to let it go suddenly, in severe pain. "Aren't uou guys listenign at all?! Where are you? I'm dizzy!" She grabbed another foothold, this time with her foot, and braced herself against the wall. "Ravintalova!" She felt her grip loosenign and fumbled for a second foothold with her good hand. "Commander?" She found one and grabbed it as she lost the grup of her foot. "Houston?" She felt faint, her grip loosening on the handhold. "ANyone!" She looked out down the hall where she could just catch a glimpse of the moon through the cupola as she began to black out. "Please..."

The room began to glow softly and she wondered if she had drifted into the cupola. Someone had come and was holding her, and she felt warmth on her hand. Maybe they were washing it? But where dif they get running water? How? She felt woozy but a little better. She looked up at a young woman with icy blue eyes and platinum blonde hair wearing silver and blue. "You're not Ravintalova and You're just another definitely not the commander. He's a guy." The strange woman paid her no mind and simply undid the bandage to get a better look at the wound. Maybe she passed out for a few days and the other crew came? But she thought the new lady had brown hair. Or was it red. Erin closed her eyes and tried to pretend this wasn't happening and not going to be all over the internet later that day.

Suddenly she felt a bit better and her hand had stopped hurting. She looked at it weakly and saw that the cut had almost completely healed over.

"It is going to scar, sorry. I am not very good at this miss space human lady."

"My name is Erin."

"Hi Erin! I am Luna!"

"What are you doing here?"

"Well, I kinda like to hang out on Earth, but I got work to do on the moon, so I go back and forth a lot. This time I saw this little floaty thingy whizzing around the earth. It looks like a funny car or plane with big wings. So I went and looked in the window, and I hear, "Anyone, please..." and I see you all fumbly and not in proper gravity for a human at all. So I look at you and your hand is all covered in blood. My boss says that is never a good thing, and you gotta stop the bleeding. So I did. Then I fixed up the cut, because otherwise stopping the bleeding does no good. But you still are all floaty and stuff and I don't know why!"

"Because we are on the international space station. we are in constant freefall because we go around the earth too fast to fall back to it."

"Oh! You come up here on purpose then?"

"Very much so, Miss Luna."

"Awesome! You gonna come to the moon too? It's been so long since anyone came to visit."

"Uhh, we sent little orbiters there. I think our next big manned voyage is Mars."

"No fair. Planets get all the fun and friendly visitors!"

"Well I don't get a say in it."

"You still don't explain why you are floaty if you mean to be up here!"

"I passed out. Got dizzy. On earth I would have fallen"

"Ow. No good."
