The purpose of a data protocol is to help guide conversations when data is the focal point. It is a structured approach with clear norms and expectations for conversation, creating a safe space for all participants. The protocol is for use in guiding a group through analysis of data to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement.

Designate a timekeeper who will keep track of the process. Be kindly assertive in order to keep the group focused.
Decide on a note-taker. Use the graphic organizer to keep a record of key points of the conversation.

FACTS: What are the facts of the data without analysis or hypothesis?
WONDERINGS / ANALYSIS: Identify areas of strength (glows) and areas of weakness (grows). What inferences and conclusions can be drawn from this data? Does other data confirm these conclusions?
GROUP REFLECTION / NEXT STEPS: What have we learned from this activity? Are there areas in need of improvement? What changes can we make as a result of this information?
