The first series of York Papers in Linguistics started in 1971 and ran for 17 issues. The last volume was published in 1996.
York Papers in Linguistics was revived in the form of Series 2 after the last issue from the original series was published in 1996. The inaugural issue of YPL2 was published in February 2004 and regularly features papers from linguistic conferences held in York. From Issue 9 onwards, YPL2 has moved to become an online-only journal.
In addition to YPL1 and YPL2, the editorial team ran York Research Papers in Linguistics (YRPL). Each volume contains a single, usually extended, paper.
The Postgraduate Academic Researchers in Linguistics at York (PARLAY) Conference is an annual event since 2013 that welcomes postgraduate and early career researchers from all walks of language and study to share their research in York. York Papers in Linguistics hosts the PARLAY Proceedings, which are fully available online.
