The project includes an assessment of archaeological remains with the intention of characterising and interpreting the structures and artefacts associated with Iron Age to medieval pastoralism across the Western Alps.
We will extract this data from archaeological reports as well as historic environment records from the study areas. We will incorporate these spatial data into a GIS. The construction of a GIS is essential, as assessments of pastoral mobility will include the running of least-cost path analyses and other spatial statistical analyses with a view to investigating the probable trajectories of herds and flocks.
