Catholic Community Services of York Region (CCSYR) is dedicated to helping newcomer families thrive in their new communities. We offer a wide range of settlement and support services, including help with school registration, language learning, employment opportunities, and building community connections. Our services are available both in person and online, and we work in partnership with local organizations to ensure families across York Region—and beyond—receive the support they need to succeed.
Needs Assessment & Referrals
CCSYR begins by understanding each newcomer’s unique needs and connects them with the right resources—whether it’s settlement support, counselling, or employment services.
Library-Based Services
In partnership with local libraries, CCSYR offers free services such as settlement support and English/French conversation groups in welcoming, accessible spaces.
🏫 School Support
Families receive help with school registration, communicating with school staff, and finding ways to get involved in their child’s education.
Virtual Support
Newcomers can access one-on-one help, language practice groups, and online information sessions covering essential topics like healthcare, banking, and legal rights.
Job Search Support
CCSYR helps newcomers prepare for the workforce with resume writing, interview coaching, and employment workshops. Specialized support is also available for internationally trained professionals.
Mental Health & Adjustment Support
Professional counselling services are available to help individuals and families manage stress and adapt to life in a new country.
Building Connections
Through events and programs, CCSYR fosters community involvement and helps newcomers build meaningful relationships in their new home.
