This is a sample request form for predicted grades from an IB world school for admission to UBC. All grades are submitted using the IB 7-point scale (See Assessment).
Applications to UK Universities are done through UCAS, The portal for all applications to the UK. Those applications need to be completed in early October of the student's Year 2 of IB usually.
Students submit predicted marks which they have to get from their subject teachers before that deadline.
There is also a personal statement that each applicant has to write. Up to 40% of the weight of the application rests on the personal statement.
Most UK Universities expect a 36 final diploma score at least. Safer to try to aim for 38-40 for places like Oxford, Cambridge and University of London (i.e. London School of Economics etc)
Graduating with an IB Diploma allows the student to enter medical schools and law schools without getting pre-med courses or pre-law. However, completion of medical studies in the UK would either require the student to live and practice in the UK or else, if they wish to come back here, they would have to re-certify. The same applies for Law degrees. The student would have to go through the Bar admission process here.
Many Cardinal Carter IB graduates have applied for direct entry to medical school in Ireland through Atlantic Bridge.
