Purpose:
To learn how to visually communicate a message through Graphic Design:
To understand what a logo is and its function;
To explain and describe the process of designing logos;
To use creative problem solving skills to design a clear, original, and effective logo.
Chips With Nick is a business specializing in chips, specifically, a shop that holds any type of chip from anywhere. It is also a place where people can come in and talk about chips. The shop is open to anyone, but is geared towards people that are enthusiastic about chips and/or want a wide selection of them.
I chose to use yellow and red because many chip companies use those colors. Such as Lays, Doritos, Cheetos, Tostitos, Ruffles, Smiths, and many more. I wanted the colors of my logo to be similar to the ones used in chip logos because my store is centered around selling different types of chips. So I want people to think of chips when they look at my logo. I chose to do a larger bubble text because I want my store to feel kind, reassuring, and welcoming. I also wanted it to be memorable but easy to read, which I believe the font that I used fits into that category really well. For one of my logos I chose to have it be in the shape of a chip bag. I wanted it to be in this shape because it makes people think of chips and how amazing they are. For my other logo, I have it in a circular box shape. I chose this shape because similar to my font I want my logo to feel kind and welcoming.
Three concepts that I learned about Logo Design were color, fonts, shape of logo. Color is an important piece to pay attention to because it can help set the tone or mood of the logo. Color can also be correlated with different emotions, which the artist can use to make it have a certain feel. Font are important because similar to color, they can cause the onlooker to associate a feeling with the logo and brand. The shape of the logo is important because a shape like a circle is going to evoke a completely different feeling than a square.
