Purpose:
To understand and demonstrate how to make a good movie poster;
To visually capture people’s attention through a movie poster;
To understand how designers create suspense and a particular mood in a poster design.
Designers can create suspense by having a title and/or tagline that gets the viewer invested in the story. Another way that they can create suspense is by using suspenseful imagery, similar to my first image of the bird about to attack the two people. One way that I turned ordinary birds into extraordinary creatures, was by giving them a story, or by making them ginormous and eat human flesh.
The object that I got was a bird. My first poster is a movie about large killer hawks, who escape a lab and started eating people. I think that my decision to have killer hawks will transform how people see hawks and make them more cautious. For my second poster, I chose to do a documentary about the Macaw Parrot. I think this will change how people see Parrots by showing them how Macaws are an endangered species and hopefully convince them to try helping them. For my third poster, I chose to do a love story between two birds. I think this will cause people to realize that birds can be loving creatures, and not just something pretty to look at.
