Purpose:
To promote positive role models in the lives of students
To empower students to stand up for what they believe is right
To create a personal work of art based on students’ interpretation of an Unsung Heros’ character and actions;
To reflect on your experiences by writing an impact paper that articulates your personal journey and interprets their work for the viewer.
My Unsung Hero is Rosli Naf. Rosli was a nurse who joined the Red Cross during World War II. She cared for over 100 Jewish children during the War, and hid them from the Nazis. When some of her patients were taken away from her, Rosli protested to get them back. Later on, she helped several teens and children escape from France to Switzerland, where they would be free. I chose her because I think her story is so powerful, and something that takes so much courage to do. Her persistence and vow to help and care for as many Jewish people as possible tell a lot about her hardworking character. I also want to be a nurse when I'm older, so this story resonated a lot with me.
