Purpose:
To experiment, explore, and learn a variety of watercolor painting techniques;
To use knowledge of landscape strategies to create a final watercolor landscape;
In the future, I would like to consider the detail of my watercolor. For my main photo (the beach one on the middle left), I think that my drawing lacked detail on the sand, and for my wooden beach walkway. I attempted to draw lines to my walkway at first, which did not help in my case at all. I have now learned to add more detail and color contrast to make up these lines, instead of just drawing direct lines on the paper, because it makes it not look as realistic. Additionally, I think that color contrast is also something I would need to work on. I noticed that I had too many of the same shades of green on my photo, and they blended too much together. Instead, I would've wanted to make the sand along both sides of the bridges much lighter. I would also want my grass to have a bigger selection of colors and a darker contrast to define it more. I think that my final landscape looked a bit rushed, and I definitely could have taken more time and patience to work on the detail of this, because I think it would have looked much better. I am 100% going to take my own critiques and use them to help produce a much better watercolor painting that I am proud of for this next upcoming assignment. With practice, time, patience, and focus, I believe that I am able to improve on these mistakes.
