When I was creating my logos I wanted them to be creative and also for them to catch the eye. I didn’t want them to be too complicated but also for them not to be dull and boring. My first logo is a puzzle piece with our name “Emporium Board Games” on it. The puzzle piece is a vibrant light blue that catches the eye. The name is in a cool font which is a simple but effective. The name is in a nice orange color which I like a lot. I chose it because orange is a complimentary color with blue so that the puzzle piece goes well with the writing. My second logo is a very simple logo. I chose a cool font to write “Emporium Board Games”. It stands out a lot and it is in the same blue as the puzzle piece in the first logo. Under the writing is a dice which is a simple addition but I think it looks really good.
One concept I learned about logo design is that sometimes less is more. A simple logo is most of the time better than a complex one so that it is easy to understand and also easier to remember. For example the Nike logo is super simple but is recognizable everywhere. Another concept I learned is that a logo needs to be relevant. A logo can’t be something random it needs to make sense. I used a puzzle piece in one of my logos and a dice in the other because those are things we sell. The last thing that I learned about logos is that it needs to have a good font. If a logo has a ugly font it ruins the logo but if it is a nice, simple, clean font than it can really improve the logo.
