Essential Question: How do artists & designers create works of art or design that effectively communicate?
I got my inspiration from a photograph my mom took of me when I was about six fishing off my grandparent's dock. I liked this photo because it had many different values and I have fond memories of that moment. I wanted to take that photo and create something new. I was faced with the challenge of using watercolor it has been an interesting time working it a medium that I don’t often work with. I had trouble with shading and getting the colors that I wanted. Overall I think the biggest challenge was the watercolor but I still had fun trying new things. I liked my print-making and etching skills because I have had practice with it before and my sketch was also pretty successful. I liked how my improvement and different prints were shown throughout the process. Each one of my prints was better than the next one and made me very satisfied with the outcome. I like my final but I would have to say that my black-and-white print is better than my colored print. The original photo was in black and white so I think my black and white print speaks to my inspiration more. I would take away the leaves in the etching because I think it makes the print feel too busy. But I wouldn’t change anything else. This project was really fun and I want to do more like this in the future.
