Reflection:
My story was of a day in the summer when I was paddle boarding on Lake Millinocket, where you can see Mt. Katahdin, and saw a bald eagle. To create my narrative mug, I had to tell my story using components like adding slabs and carving. I made a cabin, mountain, person, and paddleboard out of slab. I carved trees, which I later stained, and carved outlines of other mountains. I planned all of my glazes, and made sure they would be cohesive. I am proud of the final result, and happy with how the glazes turned out.
I believe that the one thing I didn’t quite incorporate into my mug was Mt. Katahdin. I traced an outline of the mountain, but didn’t add any visual elements like a sign that would show that it was Mt. Katahdin. I also thought about adding something like a dock or paddleboard rack to show the full picture of what it was like at the lake. The reason I didn’t do this, was because my mug already had lots of elements, but if I had the opportunity to start over, I might try to add more details. To conclude, if I could go back in time, I would find a way to show that it was Mt. Katahdin, and add more details about lake life.
