I am most proud of my unsung hero painting. It took more time that any other painting or drawing but more importantly conveyed a message and had meaning. I also think my unsung hero painting was more complex than my other work because of the layering of acrylic paint. I think it made me paint more three-dimensionally than some of my other work because I had to consider what was in front of what. My favorite aspect of the painting are definitely the candy bars. I think I made a good choice outlining them in a lighter brown and did well with the dimensions. I found it fascinating to learn about Colonel Gail Halvorsen during my research for this project because he was a person that everybody could learn from. He had no reason to give candy to malnourished kids other than kindness.
Looking Ahead:
Looking ahead, I want to pursue my artistic interests inside and outside of school. I will probably be taking Photo 1 or Ceramics 2 in the future and will do some drawing outside of school. A new goal that I have is to make a drawing of something and then build it. I have a couple ideas for foam board airplanes and other sculptures. I think that a class that could help me with this is sculpture.Â
