To use the correct facial proportions to draw yourself as accurately as you can;
To draw the individual features, eyes, nose, mouth in a convincing 3D way;
To use charcoal and a stomp to show value changes and dimension.
During this project, I've learned a lot from my peers and teachers. I got a lot of advice like, "shade the darkest points more" and "add more detail under the eyes and lips". They also gave me more specific advice on certain parts of my face like, "make face smaller", or "add more shading to your nose". They kept on giving more detail in order to make these facial features correct. These specific pieces of advice caused my self portrait to look more 3-dimensional while also making it look more like myself. Even though I did as much as I could in the span of time, I wish I had more time to go shade even deeper to make it even more realistic. All in all, I enjoyed making and learning the different tools of creating a self-portrait.
While creating this self-portrait, I learned many things from proportioning the facial features correctly to how to draw eyes, ears, lips, and eyes in order to make them realistic. The ways I did this was adding a lot of details while looking closely at the facial features. Along with learning how to shade to show dimension and value without it looking blocky and unrealistic. Which was using a cloth and adding pressure or using a Cornell blending stamp. Overall, this project, deepened my understanding of drawing realistically and logically.
