During this semester, I feel like I achieved and gained a lot of new skills. In the beginning of the year, I wanted to make my paintings and drawings more realistic. I then learned a lot of techniques, like shadowing, blending, and layering to do so. Those skills helped in my final projects, like my self-portrait and the unsung hero project. And as I did those, I also practiced certain areas like jaw lines and face shapes in order to look realistic in my actual painting or drawing. One practice that we did as a class really helped that, which was doing the techniques for painting, the composite face drawing, and drawing facial features. The extra practice really helped in achieving my goals. There was another goal that I had, which was to make my lines more crisp. Throughout the activities that we did, I think I achieved that, but I wish I could have executed it better. The one activity that really expanded this goal was the letter doodle. As time went on, my lines started to get very neat. Altogether, this semester was great for growing my art knowledge.
I wanted to take this class because I love art and I want to improve in art. Many things inspire me including the things that surround me, like people and nature. My overall goal this semester is to improve my art skills. I want my lines to be more crisp when I'm drawing and painting. I also want to make my paintings more realistic with shadowing and colors. Another major goal is to learn new techniques, tricks, and skills to help achieve those other two goals.
