Work experience provides students with a valuable opportunity to step beyond the classroom and gain first-hand insight into the world of work. By experiencing a particular job, profession or career sector, students can develop their understanding of different pathways, explore their interests and begin to make informed decisions about their future.

At Thorpe St Andrew School and Sixth Form, we offer a range of work experience opportunities to support students at different stages of their education. This includes three in-person programmes for Year 8, Year 10 and Upper Sixth students, alongside a virtual work experience programme available to all students.

Vocational placements are also available for students in Years 10 and 11 and throughout the Sixth Form, providing opportunities to gain practical experience within a specific vocational area.

Occasional (Ad-Hoc) Work Experience can sometimes be granted during term time, depending on placement opportunities.  Students often use their school holidays to develop their career portfolio through a period of work experience.

Virtual work experience provides a valuable alternative to an in-person placement. It enables students to explore different careers, gain insight into the workplace and develop valuable knowledge and skills, regardless of location.
